Dinner at the Bar is a series that started with date night. After a long week, my husband and I like to unwind with good food and drinks, and we discovered there is something magical about sitting at the bar. There is an intimacy and casualness about it, and perched high on our chairs, we can see all of the action. It’s become our weekly ritual.
We were so excited about the discovery of this fresh, modern Mexican restaurant – named after the Aztec goddess of the night – opening in Greenpoint, and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was love at first site. The light, white and bright space was a welcome surprise. You almost feel like you could be in L.A. or Miami, rather than in Brooklyn. The bar is roomy and festive, and the service superb. Our bartender suggested we start with watermelon margaritas saying they were extra special, and they were indeed delicious! He hit it on the spot with those so we took all of his recommendations for food, and he did us well.
The premise of the restaurant centers around the wood-fired grill, which touches just about everything and they honor the various regions of Mexico throughout the menu. The tacos definitely take center stage, so much so, the corn tortillas are sourced from Mexico. We loved every bite of every dish, and are already planning our next dinner.
